MANSHIP BARN · GLOUCESTER

Manship Barn Gloucester

At the Manship Artists Residency and Studio in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Pointknown documented a historic barn that continues to serve as an active creative space. In support of the residency’s nonprofit mission, a significant portion of this work was contributed to help preserve, document, and visualize the structure for future use. The site carries forward the legacy of Paul Manship, best known for the iconic Prometheus Fountain at Rockefeller Center—making this project a meaningful intersection of art, history, and digital preservation.

What was documented
We captured the barn with high-accuracy reality capture, documenting structural elements, building envelope, and interior volumes. The goal was to create a complete and reliable record of the space as it exists today, while preserving its character as a working artist environment.
What was delivered
The project was delivered as a fully developed Revit model, providing a flexible and accurate digital foundation for planning, preservation, and future design work. In addition, Twinmotion visualizations were created, supported by a custom HDRI environment generated from on-site 360° video capture—bringing realistic lighting and context directly into the model.
Why it matters
Historic creative spaces represent more than architecture—they are part of an ongoing cultural narrative. Accurate digital documentation supports thoughtful renovation, long-term stewardship, and funding efforts, while also allowing stakeholders to clearly visualize future possibilities without losing the essence of the original structure.
