ST. JOSEPH'S CHURCH · LOWELL

St. Joseph’s Church

At St. Joseph’s Church in Lowell, Massachusetts, Pointknown was engaged to document a historic structure defined by its scale, craftsmanship, and architectural detail. Using a combination of high-precision laser scanning, drone photogrammetry, and comprehensive photo documentation, our team captured both the exterior stonework and the intricate interior truss system with millimeter-level accuracy.

What was documented
We completed a full interior and exterior reality capture of the church, including detailed documentation of the sanctuary, structural trusses, façade stonework, and roof geometry. Drone flights provided additional context for roof structures and overall building alignment, while high-resolution photography preserved fine architectural details and historic finishes.
What was delivered
The project was delivered as a unified dataset including a fully registered point cloud, a comprehensive photo library, and a detailed Revit model. The model accurately represents the church’s architectural and structural elements, including interior elevations, truss systems, and exterior masonry—ready for use in restoration, renovation, or facility planning.
Why it matters
Historic structures demand a high level of accuracy. Missing or incorrect data can lead to costly delays and compromise the integrity of the design. By providing a precise digital baseline, this workflow allows architects, engineers, and preservation teams to move forward with confidence while protecting the building’s historical character.
