Lexington Center

What began as a request for existing floor plans at Lexington Center evolved into a long-term example of how accurate reality capture can continue delivering value throughout the life of a project. Pointknown initially documented the property using 3D laser scanning to create detailed floor plans from a single field visit. As the project expanded over time, the same dataset was reused to provide additional services—including space calculations and eventually a full Revit model with reflected ceiling plan information—without requiring return site visits. By capturing once and capturing thoroughly, Pointknown created a flexible digital foundation that continued supporting the client as project needs evolved.

What was documented
Pointknown captured the full existing conditions of Lexington Center, including interior spaces and building geometry initially needed for floor plan production. The documentation was created from a comprehensive site scan that recorded spatial layouts, room configurations, and key architectural elements, forming a reliable base dataset for future project needs.
What was delivered
From the original scan data, Pointknown first delivered accurate floor plans. As project requirements evolved, the same dataset was reused to produce detailed space calculations across all areas. Later, the data supported the development of a full Revit model, including reflected ceiling plan (RCP) information, without requiring any additional site visits.
Why it matters
This project demonstrates the long-term value of a single, high-quality capture. Starting from one site visit, the dataset supported multiple stages of deliverables over time—floor plans, space analysis, and full BIM modeling. It highlights how well-executed existing conditions documentation can adapt to changing project needs, reduce costs, eliminate repeat fieldwork, and provide continuous value as design requirements evolve.
brief history

Lexington Center sits at the heart of a historically significant New England town known for its Revolutionary War heritage and carefully preserved civic core. Over time, the center has evolved through multiple phases of commercial and community use, with buildings that reflect both historic character and ongoing modernization. As tenant needs and design requirements change, accurate documentation of these spaces becomes essential to support renovations, planning, and long-term adaptability within a highly active town center.

WHY POINTKNOWN

The value is not in the scan itself. It is in what your team can do next.

Design-ready deliverables

Measured information is structured into clean Revit and CAD outputs so architects, owners, and developers can move quickly.

Clear communication

Pointknown focuses on clarity. The process stays in the background. The usable result stays front and center.

One source of truth

A single field effort supports visualization, planning, modeling, and documentation—without repeated site visits or fragmented information.
